Take Stock of Peoples' Grievances and Snowfall

Kishtwar, Feb 13  (KNO) : The Deputy Commissioner Kishtwar Angrez Singh Rana alongwith SSP Kishtwar Abrar Chowdhary today visited Marwah Sub-Division to take stock of the problems of people in view the heavy snowfall in the area. The people present in hundreds at Nawapachi put forth a number of public grievances most of which were resolved on the spot. To have a detailed interaction with the people and to have an on-the-spot know-how of their genuine problems especially in the wake of heavy snowfall, the Deputy Commissioner Kishtwar Angrez Singh Rana accompanied by Senior Superintendent of Police Kishtwar Abrar Chowdhary today visited Sub-Division Headquarter Nawapachi at Marwah. A large number of people were already waiting for the administration to listen to their demands.

The meeting was held in the snowclad ground near helipad. The various speakers including Ghulam Hassan Khan, Zahoor Ahmed, Ghulam Rasool Bhat and others spoke on the occasion. The main demands of the people included the cancellation of the proposed Bursar Dam, un-interrupted supply of ration and other essentials, vaccination of the cattle, availability of the mobile phone connectivity and internet, functioning of CIC Marwah, enquiry of embezzelment of ration by the TSO and its strictest action including registration of FIR against him, smooth and frequent operation of heli services and attendance of officers and officials in the offices. Besides, they requested that all those who obtained job from Marwah and later shifted alongwith post to Kishtwar or elsewhere for availing elevated life standard be posted back to Marwah.

The people also protested against one Sanjay Kumar Incharge Manager J&K Bank Branch for his involvement with local girls and demanded his immediate shifting beside registeration of FIR against him.The deputy Commissioner gave a patient hearing to the public demands and took note of all their issues one by one. It was decided that a team of officers shall check all govt offices from tomorrow and anybody found absent from duties shall face tough music. Regarding the availability of ration and its scale the Deputy Commissioner gave e detailed bureau of it which the public appreciated. It was decided that the animal & Sheep Husbandary staff shall immediately move into the area and start the required vaccination of livestock. He advised the public that instead of agitating non-issues they should bring to the notice of administration those public issues which can be addressed so that the public at large can be benefitted.

The Deputy Commissioner handed over relief materials for one Janna Begum, a widow wife of late Abdul Ghani Malik resident of village Changer whose house has got collapsed during the current snowfall.The deputy Commissioner on the spot issued instructions for the shifting of Incharge Manager J&K Bank Branch Marwah Sanjay Kumar and instructed him to report to his cluster office today itself. He ordered an enquiry into the allegations against him to be conducted by ACR Kishtwar who shall submit his report within a week's time.While speaking on the occasion the Senior Superintendent of Police Kishtwar Abrar Chowdhary informed the public that police is very serious in the investigation of the case in which the deserting SPO of police station Marwah and his associates were arrested. He said that the investigation has been transferred to a gazetted officer Dy SP Operations Kishtwar and the police is progressing well in the case. Whosoever is involved in this case shall face the law and none shall be spared at any cost, said the SSP. He also informed the public that police out of humanitarian feelings will re-construct the collapsed house of widow Janna Begum of Chanjjer. He further said that in case in the enquiries the bank branch Manager is found involved in any crime stringent action action under law shall be taken against him. The SSP issued on the spot orders of transfer of incumbent SHO Inspector Farooq Khateeb and posted Inspector Mohd Bashir Kohli as SHO police station Marwah. Mr. Khateeb was directed to report to District Police Lines Kishtwar.The public appreciated the immediate visit of the Deputy Commissioner and the SSP to this far-flung area in this hour of trouble when the whole area is under snow.(KNO)
